Station House Daylesford has the 1853 homestead B&B and the grand manor guest house. Both are set on 3 acres opposite the tourist railway station pearched high up near the botanical garden overlooking the main town centre.
The Homestead consists of 4 period rooms with Baltic polished floors and two rooms have open fires, French doors opening to a veranda and views over a 100 metre garden toward the Sunday market and is held at the old station. Features also are a comunal lounge with an open fire, a conservatory for breakfast and dinner by arrangement.The bathrooms have claw-foot baths and shower and are located in the hall and includes a massage and spa room close by. The verandahs have outdoor settings and smokers can inhale there.
Over in the manor, there are 8 individual rooms, with ensuites including bath and shower. All rooms feature, TV DVD, Tea and coffee, no mini bar, central heating and fans for the summer. The summers are about 5 degrees cooler than Melbourne and the manors design allows it to stay cool. For the winter there are open fire to relax by in the main lounge. The rooms scale down from family to single rooms and can adapt in most cases to double or twin share. The manor has a period and homely feel with the modern touch.
Both the manor and homestead can adapt to hire for groups or a couple and single room accommodation for overnight stays. In the gardens there is a bar-b-qu and areas for outdoor relaxation and you can potter through a 100 year old railway carriage. The Station House has a lot of early gold mining history and was the original property of one co-founder of the fisrt commercial mineral water bottling called the Hepburn Co-opp in about 1860.
